IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE:
Retention Ponds & Levies
As mentioned in Newsletter Volume 5 Issue 2 in February 2015, we have experienced drainage issues with our Retention Ponds recently. The primary drainage pipe in the front retention pond (along Towne Street) has a large blockage due to a beaver dam, trees, and brush. The primary drainage pipe to the rear retention pond has a clog in it as well, for the same reasons. Beavers have created dams which caused the drainage pipes to back up, then the natural drainage flow carried lawn clippings, trash, etc from the neighborhood into the pipe.
As such, we have a crew addressing all the ponds in our neighborhood. In the front retention pond, the crew will be working to clear out the trees, brush, and nearly everything in the pond. We also have our licensed "trapper" to capture beavers again in all the ponds. Several beaver traps have been setup along the retention ponds. The traps are NOT out in the open or along the levy, as they're discreetly placed along the edge of the waterline in the ponds.
However, it's important to note that, for safety reasons, NO ONE should be walking in the areas around the ponds or levies. Please keep a safe distance from the retention ponds, and do NOT walk along the levies to the ponds.
We will be posting "NO TRESPASSING" signs in the area, as additional warnings. Please help by instructing any children to stay CLEAR of the retention ponds. There have also been reports of snakes in these areas.
