In some Christian traditions, January 6 is celebrated as Epiphany.
(See Matthew 2:1-12.)

Overjoyed by Chris Zweifel

Schooled men, searching for
The Ultimate Truth,
Ask, "Where?"
A savvy politician
Fears he will lose his kingdom.
Experts of the stars
Find God of the stars.

Overjoyed.

Aromatic gifts symbolize the presence of God.
Fragrant smoke
                             Rises.

A warning comes.
The visitors return by another route.
The entourage measures the cost -
        More time,
                Fewer provisions,
                        Dangerous, less traveled roads.

The magi experience completeness in their souls.
The Messiah plays with treasure.

Epiphany is the climax of the Advent/Christmas season.  The term means "to show."  The day is now observed as a time of focusing on the mission of reaching others by "showing" Jesus as the Savior of all people.  It is also a time of focusing on Christian community and fellowship.  Commemorate with us the coming of the Magi, who first revealed Jesus to the world as Lord and King.  "Friday Night in the Light" January 6, 2012 at Hope Community E.C. Church in Fogelsville, PA.  Praise and worship with REZ Music Ministry begins at 7pm, followed by the rythmic folk-rock of Jim Steager & The Jasper Springs Band.  A friendly gathering at which enjoy prepared food wraps up the evening.  Free admission; love offerings accepted.
