Pet Points

May 2019

Are you ready to party?  The merchants of Mystic Pointe have confirmed the date for our annual community party. This year it will be on Sunday, June 23 from noon until 3:00 pm. Once again we will have many door prizes, free food, entertainment and other surprises. Watch our Facebook Page for more details. We certainly expect the weather to cooperate by that time of year.

Speaking of warmer weather, the tick season is upon us, and according to the experts, they are expecting to see a lot more ticks in the GTA this year. Scroll down to see a very informative link, and our choice for a natural tick preventative.

And as always, if there is anything you would like to see us cover in a future newsletter, send us an email, or drop in.

Does your dog or cat have digestive issues?
Many people take daily probiotics to help promote a healthy digestive tract, and your dog or cat can benefit from this as well. Food intolerances, allergies, poor quality food or treats are all contributing factors to maldigestion, gas and bloating. As well probiotics promote healthy bowel movements which help those dogs with anal gland issues. Probiotic 8 Plus also contains enzymes which aid digestion. Other benefits are enhanced absorption of nutrients, soothes the gastrointestinal tract, and supports healthy gut flora. We carry 2 size of Probiotic 8 Plus, and it is perfect for pets of all sizes.
NEW CANADA POOCH ITEMS
In our last newsletter we told you we had the new Canada Pooch Downtown Vest in stock, but were still waiting for the Comeback Cap to arrive. We now have some of these cute hats in stock!
The Fanny Pack is cool again!  The Everything Fanny Pack has a place for poop bags, keys, and anything else you want to carry when you are out with your pooch. Perfect for summer walks!
Everything you need to know about ticks . . . .  Pets and Ticks is a fantastic website to find out everything you should know about ticks in our area. Make sure you read the section about removing ticks, as there seems to be so many inadequate methods being touted on the internet.

A few years ago we started doing research about what the best flea, tick and heartworm preventative was, and what we decided was best for our dog was to go the "natural" route. Many of the commercial preventatives contain chemical insecticides which possibly may be linked to increased cancer risk. We have been using a product called Pet Mix for a number of years now.  Without government approval this Canadian product cannot market itself as a flea and tick product, however in the U.S. it does, and is called http://www.tickoff.ca/. It is perfectly safe and we have been selling it at Pet Pointe for the past few years, and our customers have found it to do be effective. Not only is it less dangerous for your dog, but at $32.99 a bottle, a lot less expensive. Make sure you check out their website for more information
Don't forget about this great event happening on June 9 in Mississauga. Everyone who registers gets a t-shirt and swag bag full of goodies at the event. Lots of fun for the whole family. Register online, and start gathering those pledges!
