Should you shave your dog or cat in the summer?
More often than not, veterinarians will advise you NOT to shave your pet in the summer, as their coat was designed to keep them warm in the winter and cool in the summer. If your pet does seem to suffer during the hotter months, and you want to trim them down, make sure you leave an inch or two of hair to protect them from sunburn. If you have a long haired dog that likes to go in the water, then you might want to consider a shorter coat to avoid matting. As a general rule, most cats can regulate their body temperature better than dogs, so you really do not need to do any extra grooming during the summer. If in doubt about what is best for your pet, consult with your veterinarian.
Pet Cot & Canopy
A lot of condo dwellers like to sit on their balcony with their dog or cat, but your furry friend may find it too hot, or you may be worried about sunburn, and therefore your pet ends up staying indoors by themselves.  The Pet Cot & Canopy is the perfect solution. Currently we have one small one in stock, at the special price of $69.99 (regular $92.99).  We will be taking orders this weekend (June 15, 16, 17) for anyone who wants a different size (or if this one sells) at 25% off for bed and canopy together, or 20% off for either bed or canopy sold separately. Great for backyard and cottage living as well!

Helpful Hints for Dogs with Tear Stains
Many dogs, especially white dogs often get staining around their eyes, and our customers will ask us what they can do about it. Sometimes the tear staining can be due to the food the dog is eating.  A lower quality food will often result in dark stains around the dog's eyes. We have found that dogs that eat raw, dehydrated, or freeze dried food usually do not have any tear staining. Other helpful foods are plain unsweetened yogurt, or blueberries, fresh or frozen. You can also try putting a little apple cider vinegar in their water.
Before you can start dealing with "no more staining", you need to get rid of what is already there.  Lavish Tear Stain Remover from Spa by Tropiclean is formulated to gently remove tear stains and not irritate eyes. For a heavily stained area, you may need to use daily until the staining disappears. Weekly usage should be sufficient after that. This product is safe for cats as well.
