Pet Points

March 2017

Normally we would start off this newsletter talking about how spring is on the way, and that Major League Baseball and Hockey playoffs are just weeks away. However, as we all know, this is not the current normal.  We will dedicate this newsletter to all things COVID-19. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions you may have as it relates to your dog or cat

If you have not heard this already, remember there is no evidence that dogs play a role in the spread of this human disease or that they become sick. This is a good article that may help give you  more information.  Read article here

Some Common Sense Measures
Since the conversations we are having with our customers mainly consists of taking about Coronavirus, we have come up with a short list of some things you can do during this time.
  • Leave a note for your dog walker to please wash their hands before handling your dog or touching anything in your home
  • Give your dog's leash, collar and harness a good spray with disinfectant, or a wipe if you are using a dog walker
  • Make sure you keep hand sanitizer away from your pets as it can be very dangerous if ingested
  • If you choose to have play dates with your dog remember to keep in mind social distancing with the other dog's owner
  • Don't be afraid to take your dog out for a walk, but do tell people you'd appreciate if they did not pet him (social distancing)
What does the current situation mean for Pet Pointe?
  • As of right now we will be open as usual for the foreseeable future
  • We have had no indication that there will be a shortage of pet food, litter, toys, accessories and supplements
  • Should the Canadian border have to close completely, the majority of our food and litter is manufactured in Canada
  • We have no employees, it is just Barby & David, and therefore social distancing is not a problem in our store
  • Throughout the day we are disinfecting both our front door handles and the handles on our freezers
  • We are also disinfecting pens that our customers may use, our credit card machine, and our pump on our disinfecting gel, as well as any areas we feel could be a risk for our customer
  • If you or someone you know in the neighbourhood currently do not shop at Pet Pointe, please ask us if we can bring in what you need.  This will enable you to not stray too far from home
