Pet Points

September 2017

It's hard to believe but our next newsletter will actually be after Thanksgiving! Summer has gone out with a bang for the merchants of Mystic Pointe. Hopefully most of you were able to attend our 4th Annual Mystic Pointe Community Party this past weekend. Everyone seemed to have a great time, and we would like to thank all the participants who helped to make it such a successful event. You can see lots of pictures from the party here.  And a big congratulations to Liza J. who won the door prize of a pair of Leaf tickets.
This weekend we will be attending the National Pet Industry Trade Show, and we hope to be able to report back to you on new and exciting products for your dog and cat. In this edition we will let you know about a couple of products already in stock.

We have been selected to be one of the stores to carry the new single serve cups from The Honest Kitchen. This is a great alternative to canned food, and is fit for human consumption. THK is a gently dehydrated pet food which preserves the nutrients and antioxidants that are often lost in traditional backed kibble. Just add water for a nutritious meal your dog will love.
THEY LIVE AMONG US
Many people in Toronto, and in the Mystic Pointe/Humber Bay Shores area have seen coyotes this summer. The best way to avoid running into coyotes is to avoid areas where they live both at dawn and at dusk. As long as you follow some simple rules when encountering a coyote, you and your pets should be safe.
  • If you encounter a coyote, and your dog is not leashed, immediately get a leash on them and if your dog is small enough, pick them up.
  • Stand tall, maintain eye contact and back away, never turn your back on the coyote
  • "Hazing" the coyote is probably the most effective method for encouraging the coyote to leave you alone. As long as you do no harm to the coyote, this method will help maintain its natural fear of humans.
Beer for Dogs?

Craft Beer Snacks for Dogs is the latest offering from Northern Biscuit. This biscuit which includes peanut butter is made using spent grain leftover from a local Ontario Craft Brewery. Spent grain is high in fibre to help with digestion and also rich in essential amino acids. Come in for a sample*
