Arts Access is pleased to offer this workshop for people interested in becoming audio describers. Participants in this training are eligible to audition for Audio Describer employment opportunities with Arts Access.
What is Audio Description?
Audio Description is a narration service for individuals who are blind or have low vision. The audio describer provides an ongoing dialogue of visual events that are taking place.
Participants will Learn
-how to articulate visual details effectively and in the moment
-tips for bringing audio description back to your organization
-how to enhance the theater or gallery experience for the blind and low vision audience.

Cost: $300

New Accommodation at the Bluegrass Festival!

DPAC's First Sensory-friendly Performance:
How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical

Arts Access is excited to promote Durham Performing Arts Center's first sensory-friendly performance coming December 3 at 11:00 am. The morning's show is made possible thanks to the Theatre Development Fund's Autism Initiative and in collaboration with the North Carolina Autism Society.
Modifications will be made to the show's presentation as well as accommodations such as designated areas for theatre-goers who need a break, and volunteers on hand to assist families at arrival and during the performance. Wake Forest Dementia Awareness Education Series

The Wake Forest Renaissance Centre is hosting its third workshop of their Dementia Awareness Education Series. The topic of the Tuesday, September 20 workshop is Understanding and Responding to Dementia-Related Behaviors and will focus on common behavioral challenges associated with Alzheimer's disease. Workshops are free, however pre-registration is required. Register online here.
