2016 United States Individual Champs Awarded to Bay Area Orienteering Club

North American Ski-O Championships Announced

The highlight of the 2015-2016 season will be the North American and US Championship races to be held at Presque Isle, Maine, March 11 through 13, 2016.

There will be beginner events as well as World Ranking Events associated with this premier event. The Presque Isle venue is “World Class” and worth a visit just to experience it.

What's In A Name? A Switch To "National" Meets

As we work to make orienteering more accessible to non-orienteers, the Orienteering USA Board has officially changed the name of our “A-Meets” to “National Meets”. The rules will be changed so the “National Meets” will be the meets which are sanctioned. Other meets will be characterized as local or regional depending on the desires of the clubs.

The reason for the change is that A, B and C meets, while understood by old timers, are less than clear as to what they involve. (No one will have penalty time added to their run if they talk about an A-Meet and you might note that there are still people who talk about USOF instead of Orienteering USA. Don’t worry if you are slow to make the change - most of us will probably be too.)

Call for Entries: Iain Wilson Character Through Competition Junior Awards

It’s that time of year. Two lucky junior orienteers can win $1,000 in travel rebates by applying for the annual Iain Wilson Character through Competition Awards.

In addition one junior program, (national or club) can win a $1,000 Junior Orienteering Development Grant. This is a new part of the Iain Wilson Program. If your club needs help with funding their Junior Programs, submit an application.
