Many guests expected Sunday for Mother's Day, Infant dedications

As was the case a couple of weeks ago on Easter, you may find your "regular" seat taken or reserved for the guests we expect this Sunday, especially for the dedications of Roman Roy Marquez and Nora Grace Vanderkooy.  Unless you're a senior adult or physically impaired in some way, please save the best parking spots for our guests who may arrive later for the worship service.  Also, the first several rows of the center sections will be reserved.  Thank you for your cooperation.

All women in attendance will be treated to a beautiful long-stem rose to honor them for their role in nurturing life.  Additional roses may be purchased for $2 each with all proceeds going to the Wisconsin Right to Life organization.

Spend time in prayer this month...

for your church, especially as the Construction team prepares to share its report and as we elect two new deacons who have the hearts of servants and spiritual maturity for leadership (see below).

Coming up at Layton Avenue this month...

On Sundays, May 18 and May 25, we'll be receiving nominations for two new deacons.  You'll be asked to nominate one or two names to be considered for the election on Sunday, June 8.  For a complete explanation of deacon ministry at Layton Avenue, as well as information about the election process, click here.

On Sunday evening, May 18, 6:00 PM, the Construction Team will be making its first formal report.  As you may recall, this is the group we established in January to study the expansion and improvement needs of our church.  I suspect that if our forebears had never found it prudent to think about the future, then we'd still be worshiping in the building that's now our fellowship hall--and have plenty of room!   -klc-

    Saturday, May 31, 8:00 AM

Last Sunday the pastor spoke of our need to be "generalists" in ministry rather than "specialists," based solely upon our spiritual gift.  Work days offer an opportunity for EVERYONE to be involved in meaningful kingdom work.  June 7 is our rain date.  If you missed last week's sermon, you can find it here.  In fact, any Layton Avenue sermon in the last few years can be found at the sermon audio website by clicking this link.

One of the most active groups we have going at Layton Avenue is our senior adult ministry.  Each month we gather twice to enjoy fellowship and fun, and to study God's Word.  This month we're meeting on Fridays, May 9 and 23, 10:00 AM, in the Education Building.  Join us!
