Newton PTO Council Seeks Board Members
The Newton PTO Council is seeking board members for the upcoming school year. The following positions do not require the candidate to have served in the role of current/past PTO President: METCO Rep, SEPAC Rep, and Newton Community Ed Rep. FORJ Program: Climate Change and Racial Justice—What’s the Connection?
FORJ NNHS invites you to a zoom program on Thursday, May 20 from 7:30-8:30pm to discuss the correlation between where communities of color are situated and their vulnerability to air pollution. These communities are also more prone to the detrimental effects of climate change. For additional background on this important topic, you may find some short articles herehere and here. Please register here in advance for this meeting and you will receive a confirmation email with the zoom link.

NNHS Parent Community Events
Our last parent community event of the school year will be Wine Club (in-person) on Thursday, May 27, at the home of the Pontiffs (Oscar, NNHS '21). Recommended donation to the NNHS PTSO is $25. As this will be an in-person event, we will adhere to CDC guidelines (regarding capacity and masks). There are still spots left! Please RSVP here by 5/20.

NNHS Seal of Civic Action and the NNHS Seal of Social Justice
Calling all NNHS Juniors! Remember that you still have time to apply for the NNHS Seal of Civic Action and the NNHS Seal of Social Justice. The deadline is May 31 and reflections are being accepted on a rolling basis until then. For more information, please visit the CCES website here.

Share Your Vision for Newton Village Centers
The City of Newton is trying to learn more about Newton community members’ experiences of and visions for their village centers to inform zoning proposals. Engagement will include a Vision Kit to explore your village center(s), an interactive survey, and Focus Groups for equitable participation. Sign up here for a Community Engagement Information Session on May 20, 6:00-7:00pm, and fill out this Focus Group Interest Form if you identify as a renter, younger person (age 15-35), BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color), someone with a disability, LGBTQ+, of the creative community, and older adults (65+).
