Dance All Day Enrolment now ON!

Teens:  ages 13-17yrs / June 27th-July 1st  10-4pm
Children:  ages 7-12 yrs / July 4th-8th   10-4pm 
Adults   July 11th - 15th / half days  2-6pm

DTI at Re-Thinking Ageing & Memory

May 9 & 10, Trinity Long Room Hub

Dr. Deirdre Connolly (Associate Professor, Occupational Therapy, Trinity Centre for Health Sciences) and Artistic Directors Robert Connor and Loretta Yurick of  DTI's Well-Dance for Seniors programme  presented their research findings on Dance and Ageing during a 2-day workshop on the opportunities and challenges of  developing interdisciplinary research  concerned with Aging and Memory - two important themes in contemporary society.  They will also speak at a conference on Health Management  in Trinity College on Wedneday, June 1st.

Don't miss Justine Cooper (who teaches Contemporary at DTI)  with Folds the Crane (check out the preview here) and Liadain Herriott with Liminal at the Project Arts Centre, Cube on Fri 20 & Sat 21 May at 7pm; also  Alonzo King LINES Ballet (USA) performing Shostakovich, Rasa at Bord Gais Energy Theatre on Sun 21 May at 7:30, Liz Roche at The Complex and Dublin Youth Dance Company in Merrion Square. DLR Creative Arts in Primary Schools

Dance Theatre of Ireland is engaging 5th Class students at Scoil Cholmcille Senior National School Ballybrack this Spring in a 16-week collaborative Arts in Education dance project as part of Dún Laoghaire Rathdown Creative Artists in Primary Schools Program, now in its 21st year.  You can follow the project and many others at the dlr Primary Arts blog and look in on what's happening in the schools in the Arts.

Well-Dance for Seniors
Tuesdays & Wednesdays at 11am @ DTI

Well-Dance for Seniors has expanded to include classes on Tuesday & Wednesdays at DTI—over 275 seniors have  participated in innovative weekly dance classes. Open to Seniors with or without dance experience, participants are guided through modern dance sequences rich in imagery and musicality.  Well-Dance participants have also been part of a major study measuring the health benefits of dance for Seniors' well-being by the Dept of Occupational Therapy, Trinity College Dublin.  The latest study reports that Well-Dance participants significantly improved in mobility, emotional well-being and health related quality of life.
Dancing Well with Parkinson's

Friday Mornings @ DTI, 11 am

DTI is part of the Dance for PD® membership programme and offers a dance class for people with Parkinson’s and their carers in conjunction with Move4Parkinsons. Dancing Well with Parkinson’s is kindly supported by IPB Insurance.  Robert & Loretta and members of the class recently participated in a World Parkinson's Day Conference on April 16th with Move4Parkinsons.   Support Move4Parkinson by joining them in the Women's Mini-Marathon June 6th or contributing to their campaign. Outreach Workshops /  Dance POP

Did you know Dance Theatre of Ireland provides ancillary support to schools and community groups and gives approximately 200 workshops every year in the community in dance?  Now in its 25th year, Dance POP (Performance Outreach Program) has reached over 70,000 children, teens, adults in schools, community groups and youth service organisations, locally and nationwide.

Whether it’s as an on-going activity or for a once-off occasion,  DTI offer a range of exhilarating dance workshops for schools, festivals, clubs and community groups -  for people of all ages and levels. To Book 01 280 3455 or

Africa Day, Dublin

Don't miss Dance Theatre of Ireland's wonderful teacher Laia Del Barrio and some of our West African Dance class students performing for the Africa Day Ireland in the grounds of the Farmleigh Estate in the Phoenix Park, Dublin.
Creating Space Performances @ DTI

On April 3rd, DTI hosted a showcase of short works in-progress by choreographers Liadain Herriott, Aisling O'Coineen, Juan Urbina, Ana Camillo and Vintage Youth.
Creating Space supports local and emerging dance artists to create new work and encourages audiences to engage with artists through informal performances at DTI Centre for Dance. Performances take place in December and March/April yearly.

With over 19 classes on offer throughout the week, Monday-Saturday, there is something for everyone! Including Contemporary Dance,  Ballet for Adults, Hip Hop, Modern dance for 3-5 year olds and 6-12 year olds, Lyrical Jazz, West African Dance, Yoga, Ballroom, Latin & Wedding as well as Dance n' Fitness, Belly Dance and BallatesClasses run throughout the year evenings, daytimes and Saturdays.

Dublin Youth Dance Company

Dublin Youth Dance Company  wlll be giving FREE outdoor workshops in Merrion Square on Sun 22nd May, 11-2pm for kids as part of Moveable Feast, an outdoor event of Dublin Dance Festival. On July 2 & 3rd they will be at the Pavilion Theatre along with a number of Irish and international Youth Dance companies to present the 16th Irish Youth Dance Festival, an evening of  exciting performances.  Tickets here. The company will also be holding Auditions later this year. Adult Ballet RAD 7 & 8 & Intermediate

Best of Luck!  to 12 Adult Dance Theatre of Ireland students who will be taking RAD exams.  DTI  offers Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Grade 7, 8 & Intermediate syllabus classes for Adults at the Centre for Dance. These classes are offered for those with a deeper interest in ballet, and are geared towards preparing for and taking the RAD Exams.  Intensive Workshops are often in July. 

Ballet Grade 7, RAD - Tuesdays 9:00 - 10:00pm
Ballet Grade 8, RAD - Fridays 6:00 - 7:00pm

Nature Moves! Educational Outreach Project

Dance Theatre of Ireland is continuing Nature Moves a new project for young people to experience nature and creativity through dance, and is available to Primary & Secondary  schools.  Nature Moves combines experiential learning in local natural environments with learning and creating dance inspired by Nature.  Robert Connor & Loretta Yurick share their love of nature and dance, teaming up with OWLS Children's Nature Charity to deliver an engaging cross-curriculum arts experience.
