Pichidegua!
Pichide…what?
Pichidegua (pronounced peecheedaygwa) is a rural town two hours south of Santiago, where the residents use bicycles to get around and men still tip their hats to the ladies. Roger helped the leaders of several churches from Santiago present the Art of Marriage retreat to 23 couples in a camp in Pichidegua. The empty-nesters stayed in the dorm, and the younger couples slept in tents.
Hector's 7-year affair had recently come to light. Their attempts at forgiveness and reconciliation these last four months had been repeatedly derailed by a boiling, seething, unrelenting anger. During one of the sessions Hector´s face expressed his deep fear along with surprise that he actually enjoyed the weekend. As the Holy Spirit spoke through Colossians 3, the couples discovered reconciliation with God as the foundation for reconciling with others. Where else could you go with so much anger?! Hector and his wife prayed to be reconciled with God and each other!
Three people received salvation. All 23 couples took specific steps to seek God's power for their marriage and family. The whole group is excited about using their downtown sanctuary for a community Art of Marriage event. Kinda makes you want to grab one of those bikes and ride no hands! Maybe even tip your hat to the ladies.
