MRAC Grant

Great news! Inverted Arts has recieved another grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council of MN that is being used for the Friday Art Exploration program at Sojourner Truth Academy - see main story. This program is funded, in part, by appropriations from the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the State's general fund, and its arts and cultural heritage fund that was created by a vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008. 

Friday Art Exploration 

The Friday Art Exploration Program is underway at Sojourner Truth Academy in North Minneapolis! The program is being offered to middle school students at STA with classes in music, photography and physical theater. Artist Mentors are Travis Scharn - music, Becca Oehrig - photography, and Betsy Mills - physical theater. The classes are offered on Friday afternoons for seven weeks and there will be a Community Showcase event at 5pm on Thursday March 29th. You are all invited to come celebrate each student's creative work, so watch for details to come.

Urban Ventures Showcase

UV Showcase

On December 20th the middle school students at the Urban Ventures Learning Lab presented their artistic creations in theater, photography and video at a Community Showcase event. It was a full house in the theater at the Colin Powell Youth Leadership Center, with family and friends coming to celebrate the student's great work.

Kariobangi Children's Choir

Kariobangi CD

The Kariobangi Chilldren's Choir CD "Sauti Ya Watoto, Kariobangi" is now available! Kariobangi Children's Home began in 1997 and cares for 114 vulnerable children affected by HIV/AIDS. The CD is available for a $12 donation ($10 + $2 shipping). All proceeds go to the Kariobangi Children's Home.
