Greetings! We hope that you have had a chance to read through the Central Corridor Draft Plan
for public review. The environmental review process is now underway to analyze the Draft Plan; with a Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) anticipated for mid-2014, and the Final EIR estimated to be completed at the end of 2014.
During the time it will take to complete the environmental review process, the Planning Department will be hosting a series of regular monthly working sessions, or roundtables, on key topics in the Draft Plan. These collaborative, informal sessions will be focused on specific policy or design matters related to the Draft Plan, and will help us refine the Plan, especially its zoning controls and design guidelines, for adoption in late 2014.
We are excited to kick off this next phase of discussion and hope you can join us for the first session!
Date: Wednesday June 12, 2013
Time: 6:00 – 7:30pm
Location: Mendelsohn House
737 Folsom Street, San Francisco, 94107
The Mendelsohn House is wheelchair accessible. To request any other disability accommodations please contact Joshua Switzky at 415-575-6815 or firstname.lastname@example.org at least three business days in advance. Please refrain from wearing scented products to this event.
This first session will not be used to dive into any specific topic, but will be used as a brainstorming session to develop a list of specific topics that you would like to focus on for future sessions. We want to make sure we know what you want to discuss, and which issues are your priorities. Based on conversations to date, a partial preliminary list of these topics includes:
Specific use controls (e.g. hotels, formula retail)
Incentives for retention of non-historic buildings
Floor Area Ratio/Transferrable Development Rights
Setbacks, building bulk controls
Key development site design guidelines
Open space design
Following the meeting on June 12, we will compile the list and ask the Planning Commissioners at a hearing in late June or early July if there are any topics we have missed. Then, we will create and publish a tentative schedule for future sessions and their topics.
Again, you can find the Draft Plan for Public Review for download on the Central Corridor website
. We now have beautiful printed copies of the Draft Plan as well as CDs, and they are available for purchase at the Planning Department office ($37 for print, $1 for CD). The Draft Plan can also be viewed at the Planning Department office and copies will soon be available at the SF Public Library.
Several people have asked about whether there is a comment period on the Draft Plan. There is no defined comment period on the Draft Plan. We anticipate the Draft Plan will be before decision makers for approval at the end of 2014 through early 2015. You can give us comments soon or take more time to digest the Draft Plan, but the sooner we know what you think, the more time we have to consider your thoughts during the coming months. We look forward to hearing your feedback, which can be provided in a number of ways:
By writing directly to staff at the address below.
By meeting with Planning Department staff. Please contact us to set up a date that works for you. If you’re a member of an organization, we’re happy to come your meeting!
By attending a monthly working session on key topics in the Draft Plan.
We hope to see you on June 12!
