The Digest for Health Transformers & Changemakers
The Health Innovation Paradox

The space race of the 1960s declared to the world that the impossible was attainable.

“We choose to go to the moon,” John F. Kennedy said in his epic call to action more than 45 years ago. Now is the time – 2019 – to face the greatest health challenges of our era with that same moonshot vision.

Together, with global collaboration and leapfrog technologies, we have the opportunity – even the obligation – to completely rethink health and wellbeing and achieve health goals previous generations thought impossible. At StartUp Health, it is our job to amplify the stories of health moonshots, and in 2019 we will be sounding off, louder than ever, about the innovative companies and Health Transformers that are moving the needle in each.

In order to break through the noise, we are offering a signal: #TogetherWeCan. On days when the moon appears out of reach, let #TogetherWeCan be a mantra of empowerment. When it feels like you are going the entrepreneurial road or the patient journey alone, #TogetherWeCan is a reminder that we Health Transformers and changemakers are many. We must choose to go to the moon again. Together, we will achieve the impossible.

The Health Innovation Paradox: Leaping Forward, Inch by Inch

We’re living in the most exciting time in history for transforming health – but there is still too little imagination being unleashed on our greatest health challenges. StartUp Health’s President and Co-founder Unity Stoakes shares why he believes we need to choose to go to the moon again. “The time is now to stop inching forward and start racing past the health innovation paradox,” Stoakes says.
