Welcome to our January e-newsletter!
January is here and we are settling in to the new year at Autism West Midlands. Our services and activities have resumed and we are still busy providing much needed support to people with autism and their families. This month we would like to introduce our brand new supporters package. For just £15 per year you can receive your very own digital supporter’s certificate, supporters pack and three digital versions of our Autism Matters magazine. To find out more and join us as a supporter please click here. The work that we do is only possible because of our supporters and we would like to take this opportunity to thank those who support everything that we do.
Bo Elven  - managing challenging behaviour
Watch our new video from our 5th Annual Autism Conference - Exploring Autism Interventions, in November. In the video Bo Hejlskov Elvén, our keynote speaker at the conference, talks about why people act out and how to manage it. Bo is a clinical psychologist who has focused on decreasing the use of force in care by introducing low arousal approaches in challenging behaviour.

New information sheets for diagnosis
The autism diagnosis process can seem like a long and daunting experience. We have created two new information sheets for both child and adult diagnosis designed to give you a step-by-step guide to what you might expect to happen throughout the process. The information is based on the best practice guidelines written by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).
