From Our Founder: The Coming Year

As we move the Hope Lights project forward, we have much to accomplish in order to reach our milestones. Focusing our efforts in 2014 brings us closer to realizing the vision of every child in our community living in a stable loving home where they are nurtured and encouraged to be productive members of our society. Here is a highlight of four areas of focus for Many Lights in 2014:

Pre-development: We’ll give attention to the careful review and analysis of land, financial resources, and environmental and architectural planning — all precursors to any successful real estate development project.

Community Engagement: The support of our local communities is key to our success; we’ll work to grow and engage supporters. We’ll do this by sharing our vision at 30-minute informational sessions hosted by supporters and donors. Through your introductions, we’ll build a community driven to share in the creation of Hope Lights. Learn more and sign up to further our cause.

Awareness and Advocacy: Through continued collaboration with existing advocacy groups, we’ll keep you informed about issues affecting foster, kinship and adoptive kids and their families. We’ll let you know how you can influence positive systemic and incremental changes for this underserved and vulnerable population. Like us on Facebook and watch for our posts to keep informed.

Fundraising: It’s no secret that we operate because of the kindness and generosity of you, our supporters. Though your donations and pledges are welcome any time of year, we’ll be hosting two giving events this year. This spring, we’ll participate in GiveBIG — a one-day online giving event where your gifts are matched. In the fall, we’ll hold our annual event. Watch for updates and announcements in the coming months.

Families like the Roberts mentioned above are the reason we are doing this work. We never, ever lose sight of that.

You are our partner in creating the vision of Hope Lights. We’ll keep you informed of progress by newsletter, email, and Facebook and we encourage you to share your ideas and suggestions with us as well. We value your feedback and want to hear from you. Share your thoughts and ideas by email, Facebook or phone.

We appreciate your continued support and look forward to working with you in 2014 on behalf of children, families and seniors.

Here’s to a happy, healthy and productive new year!
