It was wonderful to see the continued support of our Many Lights at the spring breakfast on GiveBIG day. Our guest speaker, the Hon. Anita Crawford-Willis, shared her own inspiring story of creating multigenerational community. If you weren't able to join us that day watch the video here on YouTube.

I'm so grateful for the support of our event sponsor, Walsh Construction Co., and each person who gave time, gifted dollars, and spread the word of our project. Not only did you help us raise over $15,000 you showed your support for the Hope Lights project and our work to make a difference in the lives of foster youth, adoptive and kinship parents, and older adults. This inspires and excites me. As always, thank you for your support.

A One-Stop Resource for Post-Adoption Support

Parent-Trust-Logo
One of our advocacy goals for 2016 is to drive the creation of a one-stop resource for foster and adoptive families. We've accomplished the first step by partnering with Parent Trust for Washington Children. The Post-Adoption Support Coalition, led by Many Lights, will continue working with Parent Trust to ensure resources are available for foster and adoptive parents. If you or someone you know needs ANY parenting advice or support call 1-800-932-HOPE (4673).

Back to School Drive

Hope Sparks provides services for children and families in Pierce County who face trauma, abuse, and overwhelming life challenges. They operate Hope’s Closet, a boutique where in-need families shop at no charge. Last year over 200 kids were served with school supplies and basic needs like backpacks, paper, shoes, and underwear. If you would like to contribute to this year's Back to School Drive, drop off items at Hope Sparks (6424 North 9th Street, Tacoma, WA 98406) or contact Laura Shepherd at laura@manylights.org or 253-267-7022.

Hope Lights Updates

Our initial application to qualify for funds from the state housing trust has been approved. This is a significant step on our path to a vibrant Hope Lights neighborhood and your support has carried us here. This is a grassroots effort and your ongoing financial contributions will make it real. We are so very grateful for you and your continued support!

"The key to realizing a dream is to focus not on success but on significance -- and then even the small steps and little victories along your path will take on greater meaning."
