Call for Regional Workshop Hosts

In anticipation of planning the regional workshop schedule for the 2015-16 academic year, The Forum seeks proposals from potential host institutions. Workshops can be selected from a list of full- or half-day options that focus on The Forum’s Standards of Good Practice for Education Abroad. Specific workshops also fulfill part of the curriculum requirements for The Forum's Professional Certification in Education Abroad Program, which provides colleagues with essential education and training and certifies that they are able to articulate and apply the Standards of Good Practice.

To be considered for the 2015-16 academic year, proposals must be submitted by May 31.

Apply to Serve as QUIP Peer Reviewer

Experienced education abroad professionals trained by The Forum, the Peer Reviewers examine education abroad operations at the organizations undergoing Quality Improvement Program (QUIP) Reviews. They make judgments about whether the organization is in substantial conformity with the individual Standards of Good Practice for Education Abroad, commend the organization for any outstanding practices, and make suggestions and recommendations for quality improvement. Peer Reviewers play a critical role in making QUIP the only objective, independent review system in education abroad, based on the field’s Standards of Good Practice.

The Forum is currently accepting applications for Peer Reviewers. View eligibility requirements and apply by June 12, 2015 to be considered.

Nominations for the 2015 Undergraduate Research Awards

The Forum is now accepting nominations for the 2015 Undergraduate Research Award. The Forum Undergraduate Research Award is an honor that showcases the most rigorous and significant undergraduate research that occurs as part of education abroad programs. The 2015 award recipients will be invited to present their research at the annual Forum conference in Atlanta, Georgia, in April 2016. The deadline to submit nominations is June 30.

The 2014 award winners presented their research at the 11th Annual Forum Conference in New Orleans last month. Their presentations can now be viewed on The Forum’s YouTube channel!

Support for Title VI and Fulbright Hays

This week The Forum joined other members of the Coalition for International Education in signing letters to the House and Senate Appropriations Committee Leadership, and Labor, HHS, Education and Related Agencies Subcommittees, arguing for strengthening support to these vital programs. The Coalition’s letters recommended that additional funding be devoted to increasing opportunities for education abroad, as well as regional/global, foreign language, and international business studies and research.
