U.S. Department of State Partners with Airbnb to Support Gilman Scholarship Program

Forum President and CEO Brian Whalen attended a luncheon on Monday, September 12 at the U.S. Institute of Peace where Secretary of State John Kerry and Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky announced that Airbnb is supporting the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program. The scholarship support by Airbnb will help to send more U.S. students on study abroad programs in China.

Secretary Kerry delivered remarks on the value of education abroad and the importance of public-private partnerships that help to support our collective international education goals. “It was a wonderful event,” said Whalen. “Secretary Kerry’s remarks were terrific, and it was impressive to see so many Gilman alumni in attendance, including Nathan Guerra, who studied abroad in China and spoke eloquently about this experience.”
