13th Annual Conference!


The Forum is pleased to announce that 1,350 colleagues participated in its 13th Annual Conference in Seattle last week.

Conference session materials will be posted on the Forum website as they become available. Session presenters are reminded to submit their presentations and handouts for posting as soon as possible.

The Forum sincerely appreciates the efforts of the many individuals, committees and organizations that helped to make the 13th Annual Conference a great success: The Forum seeks any and all input on how to keep the Annual Conference the most important education abroad meeting of the year. Please complete your conference evaluations, which all attendees should have received via email. The evaluation links are also available through the Conference App.

Nominations Invited for Forum Council

 
Nominations are now being collected for colleagues who can dedicate their time and provide their expertise by serving on the Forum Council. The Forum Council, an elected body of 15 colleagues, works collaboratively with Forum staff to produce member resources and benefits. Council members are elected to a three-year term, and are eligible to serve two terms.
 
The Forum Council seeks to engage diverse representatives from education abroad and higher education to represent the breadth of The Forum’s membership on the Council. In seeking nominations, the Council is particularly interested in nominees from underrepresented institutions and demographics.

There are eight places available on this year’s slate of candidates for six open Forum Council seats. The deadline for nominations is April 20.

Save the Date: The Forum’s 4th European Conference to be Held in Prague, Czech Republic

 
The Forum is pleased to announce that its 4th European Conference will be held October 15-19, 2018 and hosted by New York University’s Prague Center in Prague, Czech Republic. The conference theme, Call for Proposals, and more detailed information will be available later this year. The Forum extends its thanks to all institutional members and colleagues who responded to the request to host the European Conference.

Call for Conference Committee Volunteers


Are you interested in serving on the conference committee for The Forum’s 14th Annual Conference in Boston in 2018?
 
The Conference Committee works closely with Forum staff in deciding on the conference theme, creating the Call for Proposals, and reviewing session proposals to create the content of the conference. Conference committee members contribute via e-mail and teleconference, primarily in May, June, and September 2017. 
 
The Forum seeks to engage diverse representatives from education abroad to effectively represent the membership on the Conference Committee. In particular, we seek committee members from underrepresented institutions and demographics including but not limited to community colleges, non U.S.-based institutions and organizations, young and midcareer professionals, minority-serving institutions, and institutions with diverse student populations.

The deadline to submit your interest in serving on the committee is April 21.

Forum Members: Request Log-in Access to Online Resources

 
The Forum on Education Abroad is an institutional membership association. Under the institutional membership, all employees of the member institution—staff, administrators, faculty, etc.—may take advantage of Forum membership benefits. One such benefit is log-in access to The Forum's online member resources, which include the Standards Toolbox, Curriculum ToolboxOutcomes ToolboxThe Education Abroad Digital Resource Center, and more. Each employee at a Forum member institution is invited to request log-in information.

This new publication, created by The Forum’s Standards Committee, is designed to introduce short-term program leaders from outside the field of education abroad to the Standards of Good Practice. The full-color, eight-panel pamphlet features multiple series of queries related to each phase of program development and implementation, from the proposal process to the re-entry stage, all informed by the field’s Standards.
