Update from the Strategic Planning Team

Since our last update, the Strategic Planning Team has made significant progress. The Team met a number of times to refine the statements of The Forum’s mission, vision and values. In a conference session at the European Conference in Athens, the Team presented the major touchpoints of the statements. Session attendees provided essential feedback, which will be incorporated into the draft.

The work on the Strategic Plan now has moved from research and gathering information to synthesizing the information into draft documents. The Team will share a draft of the Strategic Plan for member feedback early next month. Please be on the lookout for messages and announcements from The Forum.

Resources for Your Week:
Reflecting on Traditions and Symbolic Meaning

Does Thanksgiving have your students abroad longing for holiday traditions from home? Incorporate the activity “Artifact and Meaning,” available in the Curriculum Toolbox, into your program and get them thinking about local symbols and traditions, too. Discovering and reflecting on a symbol with cultural relevance through interactions with members of the host community are great ways to get your students to think holistically about their host culture.

The Curriculum Toolbox is a Members-only resource. You must log in to view this content.
