Forum Council Election

Election of five new members to the Forum Council will open Friday, June 14. All Forum member Institutional Representatives will receive an email ballot. The Forum Council Nominations Committee thanks all of the colleagues who submitted their names for consideration, and is pleased to announce that the following candidates have been placed on the slate:

Forum Invited to State Department Event

Forum President and CEO Brian Whalen will be speaking at the 4th annual EducationUSA Forum in Washington D.C. from June 26-28, 2013. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the EducationUSA Forum will bring together 500 college and university recruitment and admissions professionals with almost 60 EducationUSA regional educational experts and advisers from around the world. The annual forum offers practical strategies to help internationalize U.S. campuses, and workshop sessions provide unique and valuable information on recruiting and enrolling international students.

Session Spotlight: Standards Institute on Health, Safety, Security and Risk Management

This year’s Institute promises new presenters and new topics for consideration by those concerned with issues of health, safety, security and risk management specific to education abroad. As in previous years, the Institute offers practical strategies and resources at an advanced level, and many of these sessions will be provided by experts in other fields.
Three Staff Training Activities
Shana Tarter (NOLS Wilderness Medicine Institute)
This workshop will provide you with three staff training activities you can utilize during trainings, meetings, and program briefings. The risk management oriented activities include values clarification, change blindness and reverse planning. Each activity takes approximately 30-45 minutes. In addition to demonstrating the activities, we will review tips on effective activity facilitation.
