Forum Storytellers Podcast: A Conversation with Mickey Slind

Always on the cutting edge of the field, Mickey Slind was one of the first to champion short-term programming, was a pioneer in the quest for women’s equality in the field, had a leadership role in creating workshops for underrepresented students, and served on the original NAFSA committee to integrate health and safety into study abroad professional development.
While Mickey officially retired twelve years ago she remains active as a consultant and leader imparting her wisdom, experience and expertise to a new generation of students, advisers and field representatives.

Ethical Marketing and Recruitment Strategies

As education abroad advising and application season gears up, brush up on best practices for ethical program marketing and recruitment to be sure you and your partners are being truthful and transparent with potential students and fair to one another.
  1. Start with Standard 9, Ethics, to evaluate your current practices. Visit the Toolbox to find examples of how Forum member organizations articulate their own ethical principles and practices.
  2. Read the Code of Ethics, particularly sections 1 and 2, and refer to the Member Resources for examples.
  3. Use the "Guidelines for Institutional Relations and Marketing Education Abroad on Campuses" to guide a more focused audit or restructuring of your marketing and institutional relations strategies.*
