The conference, It Takes a Campus and More: The Faces of Education Abroad, will be held March 25-27 in New Orleans, LA, at the Sheraton New Orleans. The conference theme addresses and examines the many faces of education abroad, their diverse perspectives, and how to work together to improve the student experience.
 
Participate in pre- and post-conference workshops, choose from a variety of informative sessions to attend, visit with 85 exhibitors in the two-day exhibit hall and network with colleagues from across the U.S. and abroad!

Forum Workshop on Health, Safety, Security & Risk Management


The Forum will deliver a workshop, Health, Safety, Security and Risk Management (Standard 8), on Thursday, April 9 at Portland State University.

This Standards of Good Practice workshop will provide the tools to assess and improve health and safety protocols. After examining the data available (including The Forum’s Critical Incident Database), workshop participants will consider how this specific Standard works in conjunction with the other Standards to guide programs in developing an effective risk management plan. Participants will practice applying different approaches to risk management as they discuss actual case studies from the field.

Workshop in Milwaukee, WI: Clery Act, VAWA and Title IX


The Forum on Education Abroad will deliver a full-day workshop, U.S. Legislation Packs a Suitcase: The Clery Act, Title IX, VAWA & Related Obligations for Education Abroad, on Sunday, April 12 at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Co-sponsored by the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA), this workshop will address implications for education abroad as a result of recent federal activity: the Violence Against Women Act; Title IX and the revision to the Handbook for the Clery Act.

Mental Health Challenges on Study Abroad: It Takes a Team and More

Depression, anxiety, panic attacks, ADHD, alcohol abuse, even suicide are growing concerns on college campuses. Add to this mix the stresses of study abroad, and the situation can become very serious. Dealing with mental health concerns in a study abroad situation requires sensitivity, training, and a team approach.
