Call for Proposals: The Forum’s Second European Conference

The Forum will convene its Second European Conference, What Does it Mean to be a “Traditional” Destination? Challenges and Opportunities for Education Abroad in Europe, in Barcelona, Spain, October 23-25, 2014. The conference will be hosted by Universitat Pompeu Fabra and the European Associations of U.S. education abroad will serve as co-sponsors.

The Call for Proposals is now open, and proposals must be submitted by Friday, February 7. The Forum encourages submissions from international education and faculty colleagues with experience in and knowledge of U.S. education abroad in Europe.

Register for the Forum’s Tenth Annual Conference

Register for the Forum’s Tenth Annual Conference and take advantage of early-bird pricing before January 31. The conference, “New and Emerging Paradigms for Education Abroad,” will take place in San Diego, California, April 2-4, 2014 at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina.

It has been brought to the Forum's attention that third-party reservation companies have been contacting colleagues, particularly registered conference exhibitors, to offer a lower rate for rooms than the Forum/Sheraton's published conference rate. Please be aware that this is a PHISHING SCAM. The individuals DO NOT represent the Forum, nor have they been authorized by the Forum or Sheraton San Diego hotel to contact conference attendees. The Forum has not, and does not, share or sell contact information for any purpose.
While measures have been taken to address this issue, we are aware that the problem persists. The Forum recommends that you do not provide your personal or credit card information to any third-party companies that may contact you.

Upcoming Forum Workshops

The Forum will offer a workshop to address Standards 4 and 5 of the Standards of Good Practice for Education Abroad, “Developing Supportive Programs & Improving Student Experiences Abroad,” which will take place on Thursday, February 27 in conjunction with IFSA-Butler’s National Advisor’s Council Conference in Indianapolis, IN. Additional Forum workshops are still being added to the spring schedule. These include workshops that will address emergency procedures and protocols in Claremont, CA and Standard 8 in Notre Dame, IN, as well as one that addresses what professionals in our field should know about the Clery Act in Boston, MA. Reminder: State of the Field Survey Deadline

The Forum has extended the deadline for completing the State of the Field survey until January 15, 2014.

The Forum Internship Connection

The Forum Internship Connection on LinkedIn connects education abroad offices and organizations seeking interns with students and recent graduates seeking internships. This group is an online venue for Forum member institutions and organizations to post information on internship opportunities in the education abroad field.  It is also a place for students and recent graduates to learn of current internship opportunities in the field and to connect with potential employers. 
Students from any institution are welcome to join; however, the use of this group to recruit interns is restricted to staff from Forum member institutions.
