The Forum looks forward to joining European and U.S. colleagues in Barcelona, Spain, October 23-25. The Forum’s Second European Conference, What Does it Mean to be a “Traditional” Destination? Challenges and Opportunities for Education Abroad in Europe, will be hosted by Universitat Pompeu Fabra, on its Ciutadella campus.

Participate in Pre-Conference Workshops in Barcelona

Attending The Forum’s Second European Conference? Plan to arrive in Barcelona a few days early and participate in The Forum’s pre-conference workshops on October 22 and 23. Workshop topics include an overview of the Standards of Good Practice, mission and ethics, student learning and development, and health and safety. Colleagues may sign up for workshops via the conference registration, or they may add workshops to their existing registrations.
Interested in Professional Certification? Take advantage of these workshop offerings and certify your knowledge of The Standards of Good Practice.

Forum Workshop at MIT: Standards 4 & 5

The Forum will deliver its half-day workshop on Standards 4 and 5, Student Selection, Preparation, Code of Conduct & Returning Support, on Wednesday, November 5 at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Topics will include a comprehensive judicial screening process, different preparation and returning support models and strategies to improve existing practices in participants’ specific contexts.

Johns Hopkins University to Host Standards Workshop

Are your education abroad programs and practices in line with the Standards of Good Practice? Find out by participating in The Forum’s half-day workshop, Overview of the Standards of Good Practice, on Tuesday, November 18, at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. Participants will use the Standards as a guide in examining their own institutions’ capabilities and in determining how to ensure quality in areas such as academic programming, student conduct, resources, personnel, policies and procedures.

Open House Hosted by Universitat Pompeu Fabra

Universitat Pompeu Fabra invites colleagues attending The Forum’s European Conference in Barcelona to attend an Open House event on October 23, from 9 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.
Join UPF colleagues to learn about the University International Projects, the Education Abroad Program and a new degree in Global Studies. A round table will discuss how the city of Barcelona has grown and evolved as a study abroad destination, and how the universities, institutions and study abroad providers have adapted to the challenges created by a growing number of international students in a popular and multilingual city. The round table will include the participation of local municipal authorities and representatives of Barcelona and U.S. universities and study abroad providers.
Participants in the Open House will tour the three UPF Campuses (Social Sciences and Humanities, Communication and ICT and Health and Life Sciences), and end with a cava toast.
Registration through UPF is required.
