Health & Safety Standards Institute Offers Practical Strategies and Resources

The Forum’s 5th Annual Standards of Good Practice Institute, "Beyond the Basics of Health, Safety, Security and Risk Management," will be held at the University of Denver in Colorado on June 20, 2014.

This annual Standards Institute offers practical strategies and resources at an advanced level, and includes sessions that are led by experts from within and outside of the education abroad field. The lunchtime plenary speaker, Deb Ajango, owner and director of  SafetyEd: Safety Education for Outdoor and Remote Work Environments, will present her talk, “Performing Under Pressure: Improving Performance and Decision-making in Leaders and Students,” which will provide audience members with an understanding of how the brain works under pressure, and how people tend to react, both cognitively and behaviorally, in stressful situations. By using case studies and citing research, Deb will describe how training can and does influence one's response. She will also offer suggestions on how one might modify his or her organizational emergency action plan so that desired behaviors are more likely.

Register and join us in Denver!
