Forum Workshop at Virginia Commonwealth University

Virginia Commonwealth University will host a full-day Forum workshop on Student Learning, Development and the Academic Framework of Education Abroad on Friday, December 13, 2013. This workshop will be led by Natalie Mello, the Forum’s vice president of member services and training, and will address Standards 2 and 3 of the Standards of Good Practice for Education Abroad. Standard 2 focuses on topics related to the academics of education abroad, such as inter-cultural understanding, language and communication, and academic growth, and Standard 3 concentrates on the academic policies and structures that support learning, such as credit and coursework, academic integration, advising and career planning.

Designed to be highly interactive, timely and informative, this workshop will help its participants to apply these Standards to real-world situations through discussion and analysis of case studies. Upon completing the workshop, participants should be able to articulate the importance of these Standards, and be able to use them to improve policies and practices for their own programs.
