2014 Annual Conference: Call for Proposals

"New and Emerging Paradigms for Education Abroad" is the theme for the Tenth Annual Forum Conference in San Diego, April 2-4, 2014. Session and workshop proposals for the conference are now being accepted!
Education abroad is undergoing dramatic change driven by unprecedented commitment from U.S. and other governments and higher education institutions; strong faculty involvement in program design and delivery; advances in e-learning applications; and more effective assessment efforts and data collection. What new models and perspectives are shaping the future of education abroad? How do we know that these models are effective, and benefit students, faculty, institutions, and host countries? What innovative approaches have been developed in program design, development, management, and assessment? How do evolving conceptual models increase our understanding of education abroad? The Forum’s Tenth Annual Conference will address these and other questions by examining new and emerging paradigms shaping the field.
Read the full call for proposals. The deadline to submit is August 16.

Workshops at University of Colorado at Denver

The Forum is pleased to announce two upcoming workshops that will be hosted at University of Colorado at Denver. The first full-day workshop, Implications of the New Clery Handbook – What Does It Mean for Education Abroad, co-sponsored by the Forum and the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA), will take place on Thursday, September 26. During this workshop, expert presenters will provide answers to participants’ questions and specifically discuss the implications the changes to the Clery Handbook have for the field of education abroad.
The second workshop, Focus on Standard 8: Crafting Emergency Action Plans and Protocols, will take place the following day on Friday, September 27. This workshop will train participants to assess and improve programs they either operate, or to which they send students, by focusing on issues surrounding health and safety. The goal is to assist participants in developing custom protocols and procedures in accordance with Standard 8 of the Forum’s Standards of Good Practice for Education Abroad. Through interactive exercises and case studies, participants will discuss different aspects of handling common health and safety concerns and understand how the Standards of Good Practice support their own program management and goals.
To register for one or both of these workshops, click here. A discount of $50 will automatically be applied for registrants who sign up for both workshops.
