Call for Proposals: Beyond the Basics of Health, Safety and Risk Management

The Forum on Education Abroad announces a call for session proposals for the 3rd Standards of Good Practice Institute on "Beyond the Basics of Health, Safety and Risk Management," to be held at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. on June 12, 2012. For more information, and to submit a proposal, visit

Spring 2012 Guided Standards Assessments

The Forum’s Guided Standards Assessments are directed assessments that focus on specific areas of the Standards to help you to determine how well your organization meets specific areas of the Standards. A past participant notes: “Once we began the process, we found it quite a bit easier to complete than we had first anticipated. We are richer for having participated in the process and look forward to implementing the changes they have suggested to us to improve our overseas programming efforts.” For full information on the Guided Standards Assessment topics to be offered this Spring, see

Survey for Program Provider Organizations and Australian Universities

Next week the Forum will be conducting a survey that will help to advocate on two separate issues: 1) a delay in the issuing of licenses to program provider organizations to operate programs in Cuba, and 2) changes in the U.S. financial aid regulations that are impacting some relationships between program provider organizations and Australian universities. Forum program provider organizations and Australian universities will receive a request to complete the survey, the results of which are expected to assist the Forum in advocating on behalf of its members.

Fireside Dialogue Application Deadline Extended

The Forum extends until December 9, 2011 the deadline for applications for the 2012 Fireside Dialogues (taking place immediately after the 8th Annual Conference in Denver). The Forum’s Fireside Dialogues provide a unique opportunity for in-depth discussion, an intimate gathering of colleagues and thought-leaders in an informal setting. Past participants tell us that participation in a Fireside dialogue has led to action and practical solutions for their campuses and offices. We invite you to join your colleagues by the Fireside.
