Upcoming Forum Workshop in Chicago: August 22

On August 22nd the Forum is offering a workshop at the University of Illinois, Chicago, on The Standards of Good Practice for Short-Term Education Abroad Programs, with a specific focus on Standard 8: Health, Safety, Security, and Risk Management.
 
This full-day workshop is designed to assist participants in developing and improving short-term programs in accordance with the Forum’s Standards of Good Practice for Short-Term Education Abroad Programs, focusing specifically on issues surrounding health and safety. Participants will explore the importance of managing stakeholder expectations, discuss different aspects of handling common health and safety concerns, and understand how the Standards of Good Practice support short-term program management and goals.

Ninth Annual Forum Conference in Chicago

The Forum on Education Abroad's 9th Annual Conference, Moving Beyond It Was Great: Student Learning and Development in Education Abroad, will be held at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers in Chicago, IL, April 3-5, 2013. More information, including hotel details and a general conference schedule, is now available on the website at http://www.forumea.org/Chicago2013.cfm. Registration for the conference will open on October 30. In the meantime, please note the reminders listed below.


Session and Workshop Proposals Due in August

The deadline for submitting session and workshop proposals for the 9th Annual Forum Conference is August 24. The Forum is interested especially in session proposals that challenge assumptions about how students learn and develop abroad, and that encourage debate and discussion about new conceptual models and best practice approaches, so that faculty, administrators, sending and host institutions, and programs may better understand and support students.
