The Forum Launches First Online Workshop
The Overview of the Standards of Good Practice
workshop, the first workshop leading to Professional Certification in Education Abroad
, is now available online! The registration fee is the same as the fee for attending a live workshop, without the cost of travel and hotel. The online module is available to all, and enrollment in the Professional Certification Program is not required.
This four hour workshop uses The Standards to help you assess all areas of education abroad programming and offers guidance in how to ensure quality in academic programming, student conduct, resources and personnel and policies and procedures. The online module was filmed during a live event which allows participants to learn from fellow practitioners in the field. Exercises, case studies, and assessments are provided to assist the viewer to examine their own capabilities at their respective universities or organizations.

Application Deadline: Education Abroad Capacity Review
The Forum on Education Abroad will conduct a new program in support of IIE's Generation Study Abroad initiative. The Education Abroad Capacity Review
will engage a select group of 12-15 U.S. higher education institutions in their efforts to strategically expand their study abroad capacity while ensuring quality and standards of their programs. The program is open to all Generation Study Abroad Commitment partners.
The Education Abroad Capacity Review is a customized 6-month QUIP review exclusively for Generation Study Abroad Commitment Partners. The processes and exercises of this Education Abroad Capacity Review are designed to evaluate the organization’s mission and goals and assess enabling conditions and challenges in light of the Forum’s Standards and best practices in the education abroad field.
The deadline to apply is July 15, 2014
. The 6-month program will begin in late August.

Forum Workshop: Clery Act, VAWA and Title IX
The Forum on Education Abroad and the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA) will deliver a full-day workshop
, U.S. Legislation Packs a Suitcase: The Clery Act, Title IX, VAWA & Related Obligations for Education Abroad,
on Monday, August 18th at Dartmouth College. The workshop will address implications for education abroad as a result of recent federal activity: the Violence Against Women Act; Title IX and the revision to the Handbook for the Clery Act.
Travel Grant Application Deadline for European Conference
A limited number of travel grants
are available to education abroad professionals to help defray the costs of attending the Forum’s European Conference in Barcelona. Selection will be based on need and demonstrated benefit from attending the conference. Applicants must be employed by a Forum member institution, and grant awards are expected to range from US$100 to US$250.

Outcomes Assessment and Research Committee: Seeking New Members
The Forum’s Outcomes Assessment and Research Committee is seeking new members. The Committee welcomes colleagues to contribute to their work on the annual Undergraduate Research Awards, Outcomes Assessment Toolbox, and new publications and resources.
