Call for Regional Workshop Hosts: Deadline is Today!

The Forum continues to make its training opportunities more accessible by offering regional workshops around the U.S. and overseas. In anticipation of planning the regional workshop schedule for the 2014-2015 academic year, we are seeking proposals from potential host institutions.
Workshops can be selected from a list of full or half-day options that focus on the Forum’s Standards of Good Practice for Education Abroad. Specific workshops also fulfill part of the curriculum requirements for the Forum's new Professional Certification in Education Abroad Program, which provides colleagues with essential education and training and certifies that they are able to articulate and apply the Standards of Good Practice.
Click here to read the full RFP. To be considered for the 2014-15 academic year, proposals must be submitted by the end of today, May 15. Contact us today if you are unable to submit the completed proposal by the deadline, but would like to host a Forum workshop:

Session Spotlight: Standards Institute on Health & Safety

Contracting with Outside Organizations: Practical and Legal Issues
Catherine Hansen-Stamp (Attorney, Recreation & Adventure Law and Liability)
A framework for discussing third party contracting will be provided - considered from both a legal and program perspective. How does screening, clarifying respective responsibilities and liabilities, informed negotiation and staff 'role' training, drive more thoughtful relationships with contractors? Among various arrangements, Cathy will focus on organizations' sub-contracting a portion of programming or services to outside contractors. Attendees will also engage with an interactive case study.
The Forum’s 5th annual Standards of Good Practice Institute, "Beyond the Basics of Health, Safety, Security and Risk Management,” will be held at the University of Denver in Colorado on June 20, 2014, immediately preceding NACUA's Annual Conference. Register now!

Forum Workshops at the University of Denver

The Forum will deliver two half-day workshops on Thursday, June 19, at the University of Denver in Colorado. The morning workshop will focus on Standards 4 and 5 of The Standards of Good Practice: Student Preparation for the Learning Environment Abroad, Returning Student Support, Student Selection and Code of Conduct. The afternoon workshop will focus on Standard 8: Health, Safety, Security and Risk Management. Both of these workshops are Forum Certification Workshops.

The Standards of Good Practice Institute, “Beyond the Basics of Health, Safety, Security and Risk Management,” will be held on the following day, June 20, at the University of Denver. Colleagues may register for one or both of the workshops, or may add them to their registration for the Standards Institute. Click here for more details.
