Finding the Big Boi

If you don’t get your fill of finding extraterrestrials in Area 51, then worry not! There’s a new petition and campaign to “find that big boi” - aka the Loch Ness monster. Humorously, the Loch Ness area is public and can be visited at any point in time by anyone, making the event quite an interesting one. The Area 51 invitation, clearly a joke, drew 1.9 million R.S.V.P.s, created a worldwide meme and prompted a cool and slightly ominous response from the United States Air Force while this Loch Ness follow up is only around twenty-thousand people. The lifeguards warned that storming the lake would be an ugly venture for participants, however, due to its depth and freezing temperatures.

Just a Tip

DoorDash CEO has stated that the delivery service app will now pay deliverers full tips following a community backlash by users. The New York Times had recently revealed that while a DoorDash delivery person was guaranteed a minimum for a delivery, customer tips were not included in full on top of the delivery payment, though that is subject to change soon following a Twitter post by CEO Tony Xu, who stated that deliverers (or “Dashers,” as the app calls them) will be making full tips.

Weight Training the Brain

New tests on animals such as mice and rats have revealed that weight-training and weight-lifting may have benefits for brain health. When rats lift weights, they gain strength and also change the cellular environment inside their brains, improving their ability to think! There have also been linkages to reduced and reversed aspects of age-related memory loss in rodents who underwent weight-lifting regimen. No longer just a cardio-type-of-world, if you don’t want to run out of time for your memories and keen intellect, maybe pickup a dumbbell and get to pumping iron.

YouTube’s Getting Huge

How much does YouTube make? Estimates have placed it at anywhere between 16 to 25 billion dollars in annual revenue, but honestly, who knows? Secrecy by the company in recent years has frustrated analysts and investors, who are highly intrigued about YouTube’s position in the industry when Google’s parent company, Alphabet, releases results for its second financial quarter. Big tech companies have been under pressure from regulators and lawmakers to provide more insight into how their businesses operate, with Google and Amazon especially under fire recently following a slew of Facebook situations.

PGA: The Good, the Bad, the Absurd

The 2019 major season for golf had its fair share of good, bad, and absurd moments! From Tiger Woods’ first victory in fourteen years to John Daly’s cart-riding at the PGA to Zach Johnson’s practice swing that clipped his ball during the second round of the Masters, it was quite a memorable year full of new blood and old champions. Also the absolute dominance of Brooks Koepka, who is currently the number one ranked player in the world and who has won a major title for a third season in a row, something only achieved by seven people in the past (including Woods himself).

Top 10… Only 10

Quentin Tarantino will likely go down in the books as one of the greatest stylistic directors of all time… but how do his movies rank when compared to each other? Whether you love his look and style or hate it, you have to admit that there are some “flops,” and there are some cult classics. Ranging from “Kill Bill Vol. 1” and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” to “Reservoir Dogs” and “Pulp Fiction,” what are your top picks when it comes to Tarantino?

Peaceful Trips are the Friendliest

If you’re traveling with a group of friends, things can get hectic, things can get tense, and things can get really rowdy! If you want to keep the peace, then keep note of a few things. Make sure your expectations are right ahead of the trip, or else your group will be met with its fair share of disappointment and frustration. Mix up a schedule of scheduled days and unscheduled days, confront social situations with honesty, and most importantly, remember that friends are the ones who forgive and forget! In a few years, your group will be laughing about those mishaps and situations like they’re water under the bridge.
