Our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion committee is 15 people strong representing parents, staff, and musicians, as well as diverse in age, race, ethnicity, and gender. In our second meeting we talked about importance of making NVYS a musical home where everyone feels a sense of belonging.
Our next meeting is September 18th at 2:45 pm at NVC.
We began our work with Scansion Consulting who engaged a small group of staff, musicians and board members in a EDI feedback session. Next step is an organizational survey asking for your insight into how NVYS approaches Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. Look for a survey in your in-box this month!
Thank you to the League of American Orchestra's for our 3-year Catalyst Grant which support our EDI work. More to come!

We are excited to announce that Silvia Regalado-Zachold is joining the NVYS team as our new Orchestra Manager.
Silvia is a Sinfonia parent and new to NVYS this year. Her enthusiasm for volunteering caught our eye and we feel fortunate that she reached out to us. We have no doubts you will be equally impressed by Silvia's background as we are. Silvia has recently led the Canyon Oaks and American Canyon Middle School PTO's. She has also held positions in Donor Development at Blue Oak School and The California Maritime Academy. Silvia is also bilingual and holds a M.A. in Not-for-Profit Leadership from Seattle University and a B.A. in Psychology from San Francisco State University.
Silvia enjoys greening her thumb, walks with friends, searching for sea shells with her family, exploring new places and daydreaming of one day being crafty! Please welcome Silvia when you see her at rehearsals.
