A big CONGRATULATIONS to Cory Robbins on his First Communion celebrated at Guardian Angels on the Solemnity of Christ the King. We're so proud of you Cory!
We kicked off Advent at Guardian Angels this past Sunday. We are very excited to encourage you to access Following the Star a daily online advent devotional guide for your journey through Advent.
This Friday, Dec. 3, our new resident Priest Fr. Ed will be incardinated into the Ecumenical Catholic Communion in California. We are so blessed that Fr. Ed heard about the ECC and Guardian Angels this past summer and has joined us as a part of the Liturgy/Pastoral Team with Pastor Elaine and myself. He has been a wonderful addition to our community. His deepest desire vocationally is to serve as a Hospice Chaplain. He has been getting some training and volunteer opportunities to this end.
For the second Sunday of Advent, Dec. 5 we will have a Reconciliation Service as part of the Mass. We offer a general absolution at all of our masses but as you may know Advent is a minor penitential or preparatory season (unlike Lent which is a major penitential season!). So we will reflect at mass this week on cleaning the slate and refocusing ourselves prior to our celebration of Christmas and the New Year. So bring those things you have been struggling with to Mass this weekend and we will spend some extra time praying for reconciliation and restoration.
On Dec. 12, the third Sunday of Advent, we will celebrate 2 Baptisms. Charles and Alex Barton (a father and his infant son) will be officially welcomed into the Christian Community. We are so honored to be a part of this beautiful sacramental moment. God is so good!
The fourth Sunday of Advent will celebrated on Dec. 19. The last week of Advent Guardian Angels will be part of the 3rd Annual Interfaith National Homeless Persons' Memorial Day held every year on the longest night of the year, Dec. 21. We have lost several homeless people here locally and we also remember those refugees who have died homeless in our deserts trying to start a better life for themselves and their families. The event this year will be held at 6:00pm at the First United Methodist Church. Please see flyer for more details.
We will celebrate a beautiful Christmas Eve Mass at our Church on Friday, Dec. 24th at 8PM.
We've added Furnishing Hope as a new ministry! The mission of Furnishing Hope is to collect usable household items and furniture, and distribute these to people in need. Please visit http://furnishinghopeaz.org, to learn more about this organization.
