2019 START Awards Nominations Open
The Center for START Services is inviting START teams to nominate exceptional team members and network partners for the 2019 START Awards. Award winners will be announced during the 2019 START National Training Institute Awards Luncheon at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Virginia on Tuesday May 7, 2019. The nomination deadline is Wednesday, April 3, 2019.
All START team members are encouraged to nominate colleagues and leaders who demonstrate a thorough understanding of the START model and have made significant contributions to improving the quality of life for people supported through START. Please submit only one nomination per award

START Award Descriptions:

The START Team Member Awards recognize START professionals who demonstrate a thorough understanding of the START model and have made significant contributions to improving the quality of life for people supported through START. These recipients exemplify the START philosophy of positive engagement with individuals, families, and the service system. One award will be given for each of the following team members:
  • Therapeutic Support Team (In-Home Supports)
  • Therapeutic Support Team (Resource Center)
  • Team Leadership (Resource Center Directors/Assistant Directors; Clinical Directors; Program Directors/Assistant Directors; Medical Directors)
  • Team Member (Team Leaders/Certified START Coordinators)
START Network Partner Awards recognize two network partners for their significant contribution, in collaboration with a START team, to improving the system of support for adults and children with IDD and behavioral health challenges. The recipients (individuals or organizations) embody the core START concept of enhancing the capacity of the system. Two awards will be presented: one for children's services and one for adult services.

Case Management/Service Coordination/Care Coordination Award recognizes a case manager, service coordinator, or care coordinator who has worked closely and positively with a START team to improve the system of support for individuals with IDD and behavioral health challenges. The recipient recognizes the importance of collaborative, systemic work between START teams, and case management/service coordination in the system.
