The Center for START Services

Dear START Network Members,
The racism, antisemitism, violence and hate that has permeated throughout our country and directly impacted Charlottesville last weekend is absolutely unacceptable. While racial and religious divide has chronically persisted in our society, we are now truly experiencing a crisis. Our job as a network is to do what we can to address this crisis that impacts all of us including those with disabilities that we support and their families.
Although we have been working as a National Center to increase our efforts toward cultural and linguistic competency and there is much work to be done, I feel the need to expedite the process in the current climate. In the coming weeks and months, you will be invited to participate in forums to mobilize our efforts further. More information to come.
We are fully aware that passive acceptance of discrimination and hate toward anyone at anytime is completely unacceptable. We will act on the cause of peace, hope and acceptance. We send our support to our Charlottesville team and the people they support.
