2019 Coordinator Certification Guide Now Available

The Center for START Services is pleased to announce the release of the 2019 START Coordinator Certification Guide, including an updated Coordinator Training Group Syllabus.

The Certification Guide can be found in Moodlerooms’ Online Resource Area


2019 Guide Highlights:
  • START coordinator role description explained in the context of character strengths (pages 5-7)
  • Clarification of the coordinator training process (page 7 & 10)
  • Additional Information regarding certification review preparation (pages 13-14)
  • Competency areas added to the Clinical Competency Assessment (page 23)
  • New clinical competency area in Certification Review Form (page 27): “Demonstrates the use of START tools and services”
Noteworthy Updates to Coordinator Training Group Syllabus:

NEW requirements:
  • Office Hours: All CTG participants are now required to participate in at least one office hours session during their 19-week CTG. Office hours can be utilized individually or in small group sessions. A list of national team office hours are available in the START Online Resource Area.
  • Clinical Competency Assessment: CTG participants are now required to complete a clinical competency self-assessment at 3-months from hire. 6- and 9-month assessments will still be conducted with the coordinators’ supervisor.
No longer required:
  • Demystifying Syndromes (Watson & Griffiths, 2016)
