Updates to the START Coordinator Certification Curriculum

The order of presentations in the START Coordinator Certification Course has been reorganized to coincide with the Coordinator Training Group Syllabus.

The following trainings have been ADDED to the curriculum:

  • Character Strengths (Tomasulo, 56 minutes) in Week 2
  • Positive Clinical Interventions (Tomasulo, 69 minutes) in Week  2
  • Cultural Competency and Leadership Practices in Support of START Service Users and Their Service Providers (Beasley, 59 minutes) in Week 3

The Center for START Services is committed to providing the START Network with the most current and relevant training materials. As such, all recorded training videos and powerpoints are evaluated on an ongoing basis and are updated if:

  • the training is 2 or more years old
  • attendees rated their satisfaction at 85% or less
  • any research, best practice, or approach is no longer current due to new research findings
  • new, pertinent information or topics are needed
All START team members are responsible for viewing these new trainings in order to obtain and renew their coordinator certification. Details on our policy are provided below:

Certified START Coordinators:
Certified Coordinators are required to view all added trainings and may count the recently added trainings toward ‘training hours received’ on their certification renewal application.
