Hearts on Fire | Visionary of the Week

Lila Igram is one mother who sees the upside of social networking. It is, she believes, a powerful and effective tool to help better the lives of women and children around the world.

That’s why she created the crowd-funding non-profit, ConnectHer, which matches donors with projects and allows individuals to join "giving groups" to pool their donations so as to be more effective givers.

ConnectHer also launched an international contest, Girls Impact the World Film Festival, open to student filmmakers who want to spotlight critical women’s issues.

Before starting ConnectHer, Lila co-founded a t-shirt company in 2004, which advocated for social justice. Prior to that, Lila worked for FLOW, a nonprofit which advocates Conscious Capitalism. During her time at FLOW, she worked in the area of community outreach.

Lila graduated from the University of Iowa. She has traveled extensively in the Middle East, South America, Africa and Europe - living in Cairo, Egypt for one year. Lila currently lives in Austin, TX with her husband and three children.
