Open Access articles: reduced prices for members

The FEMS Journals introduced a discounted rate for Open Access fees for all authors who are a member of a FEMS affiliated Society. Authors get the discount by simply indicating their Society membership in the cover letter accompanying the submission.

The discount is valid for all FEMS Journals.

Several Societies have kindly provided an overview of their members, thanks! Don’t worry if your Society wasn’t able to provide the information. We’ve made the discount available for members of all Societies to keep it simple and fair for all authors. FEMS will encourage authors to choose Open Access and join your Societies.

Peer Review Week 2020 focuses on trust in peer review through events and campaigns

In this time of uncertainty, ensuring that peer review is trustworthy has never been more important. We invite all scholarly and scientific societies, researchers, editors, publishers, librarians, universities, funders, and anyone interested in the advancement of high-quality research to join us during Peer Review Week (PRW) for this celebration and learning experience.

This year’s theme is Trust in Peer Review — and  there is still time to get involved!
HOW TO GET INVOLVED?

For example, you might want to:
  • Host a webinar
  • Submit a video to the Peer Review Week YouTube channel
  • Organize a virtual panel discussion
  • Write and post a blog
  • Organize or participate in a peer review themed social media campaign
  • Attend one of the PRW Reddit AMAs — or organize your own
  • Join the discussion on Twitter @PeerRevWeek #PeerRevWeek20 #TrustInPeerReview

If you would like to get involved, are planning a PRW event, or have any questions or ideas, please contact peerreviewweek@outlook.com

Interview with Professor Uzcudun

This month, we spoke with Prof. Iñigo Lasa Uzcudun at Navarrabiomed Biomedical Research Center (Spain) about his research, and the profession of a microbiologist. You can read the full interview on the EAM Website.

"I love the moment in which after all the necessary steps to modify the bacterial chromosome, you receive the sequencing results to verify the modification and the reading shows that the changes you designed are indeed there. It is like a miracle."
