Read and publish

The publishing landscape is changing rapidly. As part of an effort to make Open Access publication easier, institutions are signing Read and Publish deals, whereby journal subscriptions and the publication of open access articles are prepaid together.

Our not-for-profit publisher, Oxford University Press (OUP), has signed several Combined OA and Subscription deals which may involve your institute.

Society project in the spotlight: In the Society of Microbes

The project 'In the Society of Microbes' aimed to introduce, develop and support the longevity of service learning, as a part of academic teaching. It was a 22-month project with seven partners from three Croatian universities and two NGOs.
This was the first application of service learning in microbiology in Croatia, and was co-financed by the European Social Fund. It engaged more than sixty university students, professors, volunteers and educators and offered education workshops and mentorship.

At the end of first part of the project supervisors and volunteers had the chance to visit the museum of microbes “Micropia” in Amsterdam. An outcome of the project was also a new virtual museum of microbes – Microseum.
“We hope you will enjoy exploring it, as much as we have enjoyed making it.” ─ Dr Dijana Škorić – Project coordinator for ‘In the Society of microbes’ and FEMS Delegate for the Croatian Microbiological Society / Hrvatsko Mikrobiolosko Drustvo.
