President's Message
EMRA documentary shines a spotlight on EM's history
At ACEP13 in Seattle last month, I had the opportunity to attend the gala premiere of EMRA’s documentary film, “ 24|7|365: The Evolution of Emergency Medicine.” It was a moving documentary, and I can tell you there were not too many dry eyes in the house, especially with some of the major players actually in attendance. Congratulations to EMRA for conceiving of the idea, arranging for the funding, and then actually seeing the production through. If you've not seen the film, and the opportunity presents itself (and it will in the months to come), make every effort to attend. Of course, the Buckeye state was front and center for this production. [Read more]
Dr. Jim Augustine Elected to ACEP Board of Directors
By Dr. James Augustine, MD, FACEP
With the outstanding support from the leadership and Council members of Ohio ACEP, I was elected as a new member of the Board of Directors of the American College of Emergency Physicians. It will be an honor to serve the College and the field of emergency medicine in these changing years. There is significant precedent for leadership of the College from Ohio, with five prior Presidents, a prior Speaker of the Council and the present Speaker of the Council, Dr. Kevin Klauer. I am grateful for the mentorship of each of these leaders and many others in our field.
ACEP and its members face years of intense change in the healthcare system, the practice of emergency medicine and the care of emergency patients. [Read more]
