Two events in the past week have well demonstrated leadership in action. One of the three strategic pillars of Ohio ACEP is Leadership. Last week, I had the privilege of being invited to attend the Constantine C. Roussi Memorial Lecture in Emergency Medicine at Akron General EM Residency. Past Ohio Chapter and National ACEP President, Dr. Nick Jouriles invited past and current leaders from Ohio and emergency medicine. Ohio Emergency Medicine Residents’ Assembly

On August 13, 200 residents, medical students, and leaders from Ohio ACEP, National ACEP, and EMRA gathered for the Ohio Emergency Medicine Residents’ Assembly in Columbus. 19 of Ohio’s 21 emergency medicine residency programs were in attendance for Ohio ACEP’s signature event supporting EM residents and medical students. St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital Emergency Medicine Residency is a new program that welcomed its first group of residents on July 1st, 2015. The four year program will accept six residents each year and is approved by the American Osteopathic Association. We are located in Boardman, Ohio, a beautiful suburb of Youngstown. [Read more]

Help Ohio Win! Triple E Campaign: Expand – Enhance – Engage
In an effort to broaden the legislative influence of emergency physicians, ACEP has launched the Triple E Campaign. The Campaign is a contest to see which ACEP Chapter can get the most members added to the ACEP 911 Legislative Grassroots Network. The contest runs until October 15, and the winning Chapters will be recognized at ACEP15 in Boston. Join the 911 Network to help Ohio earn points and win! You will need your ACEP log-in credentials to get started.

Fellow Status Application Deadline Extended to August 31
The FACEP designation means more than just board certification – it indicates a true leader in emergency medicine. Eligible members must apply by August 31, 2015, to be inducted at ACEP15 in October. If you have questions about your eligibility for Fellow Status, contact Membership and Customer Service at 800-798-1822, ext. 5, for your personal eligibility review. Learn more here.

Established in 2010, the QIPS Resident Quality & Patient Safety Award will be presented to a resident or residents with outstanding innovations in advancing Quality and/or Patient Safety. Projects will be judged on its overall importance, innovation, outcomes, and applicability to Emergency Medicine practice.
