President's Message
In less than two weeks, Ohio ACEP's Council delegation will head to Boston for the annual ACEP Council meeting. If you’ve ever wondered where and how the business of national ACEP gets done, the answer starts with ACEP Council. Council is the deliberative governing body of the College and is made up of representatives from all 53 chapters, 33 membership sections, and several other organizations like EMRA and SAEM. Now Available – Reference Tool for Prescribers to Identify Signs of Drug Abuse
In an effort to help Ohio prescribers keep potentially dangerous and addictive prescription drugs out of the hands of drug abusers, the Ohio State Medical Board has developed a “Red Flags†resource tool to help identify signs of prescription drug abuse and/or drug-seeking behavior in their patients.

OARRS Gets a New Website, New Features
The Ohio State Board of Pharmacy has launched its redesigned website for Ohio’s prescription drug monitoring program, the Ohio Automated Rx Reporting System (OARRS). According to the Board of Pharmacy, the new site is more user-friendly and will help prescribers to better use the data contained in the system.
On top of its new look, the updated OARRS site includes a Frequently Asked Questions section, guidance documents, a morphine equivalent dose (MED) Calculator, and training videos to instruct users on creating an account, running a patient report, and how to read a patient report.

While at ACEP15, make plans to attend the AMA Roundtable, featuring Steven J. Stack, MD, FACEP, AMA President—the first emergency physician to ever hold that position. The Roundtable will take place Noon, Tuesday, Oct. 27 in Room 209 at the BCEC. Lunch will be provided and all physicians and medical students are invited to attend.
