Oftentimes, a victory in advocacy doesn’t look like a victory. There isn’t always a press conference or a bill signing ceremony. Sometimes a victory is a victory because of what doesn’t come about. Take, for instance, a recent development regarding the State Medical Board of Ohio’s push to eliminate the “one-bite” program, which allows physicians to seek mental health or substance abuse treatment without notifying the Medical Board. Dr. Dan Breece Joins Ohio ACEP Board

 

We’re happy to announce that Dan Breece, DO, FACEP, has been appointed to the Ohio ACEP Board of Directors to fill the unexpired term vacated by longtime Board Member, Dr. Robert Broida. 

Dr. Breece serves as Medical Director for Emergency and Urgent Care Services at Marietta Memorial Health System, where he is also a Core Faculty Member for the EM Residency Program. [Read more]

Awards will be presented April 19, during the 2016 Ohio ACEP Emergency Medicine Leadership Forum

Ohio EMS Now Accepting Star of Life Nominations


Ohio ACEP and the Division of EMS will join the State Board of Emergency Medical, Fire, and Transportation Services on May 18 for the 16th Annual EMS Star of Life Awards. The ceremony was designed to recognize Ohio’s outstanding first responders, reunite EMS personnel with the patients they saved, and honor Ohio's EMS heroes. The Ohio Division of EMS is now accepting nominations for EMS Star of Life Awards. For more information, including available awards and criteria, check out the 2016 EMS Star of Life Nomination Packet. The deadline to nominate is March 18, 2016!

ACEP Seeks Nominations for Awards Program
ACEP is accepting nominations for the 2016 ACEP Awards Program, which honors members who distinguish themselves through leadership and excellence in emergency medicine. All members are eligible to submit nominations in one or more award categories. Deadline to nominate is March 1.

Nominations Sought for ACEP Board of Director Candidates
The ACEP Nominating Committee is accepting individual, chapter, and section recommendations for ACEP's Board of Directors. Nominations are due March 1.

Interested in Volunteering? Apply Now to be a Member of an ACEP Committee
The selection process has begun for appointing members to serve on national ACEP committees during fiscal year 2016-17. Members interested in serving on a national committee are asked to submit an interest form by May 16 with a CV. Members are encouraged to contact their chapter to obtain a letter of support. More details are available online.
