President's Message
When you read this hopefully everyone will have made it home from Las Vegas safely. Whew. What an amazing but exhausting seven days. As I've written before, ACEP Council is my single favorite activity of the year. Nearly 400 Councillors from around the country gathered for two days to debate resolutions and elect the Board of Directors and new President-Elect of the College, Dr. Paul Kivela from California. A special congratulations, however, goes to Ohio's Dr. Jim Augustine on his re-election to the Board and Dr. Kevin Klauer on his election to the Board. Ohio ACEP Launches NIX Opiates Campaign
Chapter seeks EM physicians to partner with us to #EndTheEpidemic
We are proud to announce the launch of the NIX Opiates campaign to fight teen opioid abuse in Ohio. Led by our own Dr. Ryan Squier, the NIX Opiates campaign will bring emergency physicians into Ohio high schools to speak candidly with students and parents about addiction, drug abuse, and overdose.
The first NIX Opiates presentations at Olentangy Orange High School received outstanding feedback from parents and students alike and gained positive coverage from Central Ohio media outlets, including this story on NBC 4 Columbus:

As part of the program, Ohio ACEP, Dr. Squier, and Alexander Rogers of Parastar, Inc. produced a powerful short film to accompany the presentation. Check out the trailer for “I Ask Myself Why”:

Will You Join Us? We need physician leaders to partner with us to bring NIX Opiates to communities around Ohio. Ohio ACEP is developing a presenter kit which includes presentation, resources, contact information, and steps to implement a NIX Opiates presentation in your local school district.
Interested in being a NIX Opiates presenter? Email us at OpiateAwarenessTeam@ohacep.org with your contact email, phone number, and school district information.
