COVID-19 emergency rent and utility bill assistance

If the pandemic has caused you hardship and you need help catching up on your rent or utility bills, you may be eligible for Minnesota’s COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance. Eligible Minneapolis renters can receive help with rent and utility bills dated on or after March 13, 2020. If you qualify, you could receive up to 15 months of total assistance.

While you can’t be evicted for not paying rent during Gov. Walz’s executive order, rent is still due. When the order is lifted, people owing unpaid rent could be at risk for eviction.

Calling all gardeners and would-be gardeners!

Are you interested in seeing a community garden at Lyndale Farmstead Park?

A community garden site was identified in the master plan recently adopted for Lyndale Farmstead park! Interested community members are invited to sign up for our contact list of stakeholders. Community stakeholders would be contacted during the planning phase to provide design guidance, show support for this initiative, and may be interested in participating in the garden when it is built. You don’t have to live in East Harriet to participate!

With interest from community members like YOU, we can build a community garden together.

Provide feedback on potential route options for METRO Blue Line Extension project

Project staff are seeking feedback on potential route options for the METRO Blue Line Extension, which will connect communities from downtown Minneapolis northwest to Brooklyn Park.

Based on community input, technical considerations, and past project work, project staff believe these routes present the best opportunities to deliver a light rail project that maximizes community benefits and connects even more people to jobs, education, healthcare and other key destinations. They are also consistent with the project principles adopted by the Corridor Management Committee in December 2020.

These routes are intended to advance a conversation many years in the making with the goal of identifying a single community-supported route by the end of this year to advance through official design and review processes.

EHFNA Block Leader Program
Do you see yourself as a community block leader?

EHFNA is looking to gather folks who identify as leaders and connectors to the residents they live closest to, homeowners and renters alike.

As a Block Leader, you would help promote the long-term sustainability and safety of the East Harriet Farmstead Neighborhood through education and knowledge by joining in periodic Community Partnership committee meetings and actively communicating with your closest neighbors to share information and gather feedback.

Our hope is that Block Leaders will be the connecting link to our East Harriet residents who are most difficult to reach but deserve to be informed, heard and supported. If interested, please email to sign up and be alerted to upcoming informational events.
